Magnesium diboride is a black, crystalline compound with a hexagonal structure. It is known for its superconducting properties, with a relatively high critical temperature of around 39 K. MgB2 thin films deposited by sputtering have been explored for their potential in superconducting electronics, such as Josephson junctions and superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs).
