m-dPEG®8-Lipoamide, product number 10800, is a single molecular weight, discrete chain-length polyethylene glycol (dPEG®) surface modification reagent. Designed to form a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) on gold, silver, and other metal surfaces, m-dPEG®8-Lipoamide consists of a methyl-terminated monodispersed PEG8 conjugated to lipoic acid (thioctic acid) via an amide linkage. Lipoic acid, or the reduced dihydrolipoic acid (DHLA), forms two (2) dative bonds (coordinate covalent bonds) with gold, making it more stable than typical thiol reagents.
