m-dPEG®15-amine, product number 10298, is a non-immunogenic, water-soluble chemical modification reagent. The product contains a monodisperse, single molecular weight, discrete-length polyethylene glycol (dPEG®) chain. One end of the dPEG® chain terminates with a methyl group and the other end with an amine. The amino group reacts with carboxylic acids (and their active esters) to form amide bonds. Reactions with aldehydes or ketones form a labile imine known as a Schiff base. Uses for this product include passivating surfaces, coating biomolecules, and building dendrimers and other supramolecular constructs.
dPEG® Products as PEGylation Reagents
PEGylation is the process of modifying surfaces, small molecules, and biomolecules (e.g., peptides, proteins, and lipids) with polyethylene glycol (PEG). Conventional PEGylation reagents are disperse polymers. Polymer dispersity complicates the analysis of conjugates created with them.
OurdPEG® products have no dispersity. Instead, each dPEG® product contains a discrete chain length of PEG with a single molecular weight. Our monodisperse dPEG® PEGylation reagents simplify the analysis and characterization of conjugates made with them. All the benefits of PEG remain, but the complications that come from using disperse polymer products vanish. At Quanta BioDesign, we call this "the dPEG® difference."Please contact us at for specific academic pricing.
