Lincomycin Hydrochloride is a lincosamide antibiotic with an activity against gram-positive and anaerobic bacteria as well as protozoans. It is produced by Streptomyces lincolnensis var. lincolnensis and has been used for the treatment of staphylococcal, streptococcal, and Bacteroides fragilis infections. It inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria asit can bind to the 50s subunit of ribosome and subsequently prevent the peptide bond formation and translocation.
