Eukaryotic Ku is a heterodimeric DNA binding protein formed by the p70 and p80 subunits that were named according to their respective molecular weight. Ku is a key factor of the non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) DNA repair pathway by directly binding to DNA ends created at DNA double strand breaks.
