Jasmonic acids (JAs) are a class of lipidic plant hormones belonging to a group of compounds which are generated via oxygenation of fatty acids. As stress-related hormones, JAs are synthesized from linolenic acid present in the chloroplast membrane in response to wounding or attacks by necrotrophic pathogens. They are involved in development, abiotic stress responses as well as plant-microbe interactions in defense and symbiosis.
