  - Indole-3-carbinol is an indole found in many cruciferous vegetables with a variety of bioactivity including anticancer, antibacterial and antifungal effects. Researchers have found that in some cases indole-3-carbinol has inhibited angiogenesis, induced apoptosis, caused cancer cell cycle arrest and suppressed cell invasion. Indole-3-carbinol shows in vitro antibacterial activity against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, and antifungal effects against Candida albicans.
