In Vitro Mammalian Chromosomal Aberration Test Kit (with CHL) utilizes Chinese hamster lung (CHL) cells as the test system for detecting the mutagenic potential of chemical substances. Under conditions with and without metabolic activation systems, CHL cells are exposed to the test substance. Subsequently, the cells are treated with colchicine, a mitotic inhibitor, to arrest them in the metaphase stage. The cells are then harvested, prepared on slides, stained, and analyzed under a microscope for types of chromosomal structural aberrations.
