Polyethyleneglycols (PEGs) are widely used for material modifications to reduce unspecific binding of the surface. The characteristics are usually applied to Biosensor such as SPR and QCM. Because Carboxy-EG6-hexadecanethiol has 6 ethylene glycol units, 16 atoms and SH group at the end, it’s expected to be a highly oriented and stable SAM on a gold surface. This product contains carboxyl group with C16-PEG. After formation of SAM, the carboxyl group can be activated with condensing agent such as WSC (catalog code: W001) to immobilize amino functional compound or proteins. In order to reduce unspecific binding more effectively, we recommend mixing with hydroxyl terminal SAM reagent.
