      • Overview
        • The sclera plays an important role in maintaining the structure and function of the eyeball. The metabolism of extracellular matrix, expression of cytokines, and their own biomechanical properties of scleral fibroblasts determine the biological and biomechanical properties of the sclera. Scleral fibroblasts are the main cellular components that make up the sclera. Under physiological conditions, due to the effect of intraocular pressure, scleral fibroblasts are always in a stress state. Changes in the structure, function, and biomechanical properties of scleral fibroblasts are the basis for changes in scleral plasticity, physiology, biochemistry, and biomechanical properties. Studying the response of scleral fibroblasts to mechanical stimuli is helpful for further understanding the process of transforming mechanical signals into biochemical changes within the cell, and is of great significance for further understanding the physiology of visual organs, the pathogenesis of eye diseases, and the treatment mechanism. Human scleral fibroblasts are frozen in this library for the P2 generation, and using a matching fibroblast culture medium, cells can maintain a 10-fold increase or more.
