This antibody reacts with the CD57-antigen, a carbohydrate antigen present on a subset of peripheral blood mononuclear cells involved in the Natural Killer activity, which is not MHC restricted. The antigen is not present on B cells, monocytes, red blood cells or platelets but is expressed on cells in neuroectodermal tissue. It reacts with 20% of normal human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Reacts with a 110 kDa carbohydrate antigen associated with myelin-associated glycoprotein expressed on 7-35% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes including a subset of natural killer cells, a subset of CD8+ peripheral blood suppressor/cytotoxic T cells, and on some neural tissues.
CD57 is not expressed on granulocytes, platelets, red blood cells or thymocytes. The function of CD57 is still unclear, however, its expression on T-cell subets occurs in late immune responses. Please contact us at for specific academic pricing.
