Cystatin C is most widely used as a diagnostic marker for kidney function. Routine kidney function tests measure serum Creatinine, Urea and Glomular Filtration Rate (GFR). Serum Cystatin C is measured as part of measuring GRF, as it is quicker and easier than traditional techniques of collecting urine samples over a 24 hour period. It has been shown to not be affected by age, gender and body weight.
Eliminates potential interferences from other proteins or contaminants due to high purity and low bioburden.
Demonstrates excellent recovery compared to native Cystatin C.
