In humans, CXCL1 gene encodes a small chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 1 (CXCL1) cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine family that was previously called GRO1 oncogene, GROα, KC, neutrophil-activating protein 3 (NAP-3) and melanoma growth stimulating activity, alpha (MSGA-α). CXCL1 plays a role in spinal cord development and diseases associated with CXCL1 include acute cystitis and la crosse encephalitis. Its related pathways include Signaling by GPCR and Akt Signaling. Among its related GO annotations are receptor binding and chemokine activity.
