Carboxy-PEG4-phosphonic acid ethyl ester contains a carboxylic acid end group and a phosphonic acid ethyl ester moiety. The carboxylic acid can be reacted with primary amines in the presence of activators such as EDC and DCC to form a stable amide bond. The hydrophilic PEG linker increases the water solubility of the compound in aqueous media.
