Carbazomycin D is a minor analogue of a family of carbazoles initially isolated from Streptomyces ehimense reported by researchers at Hiroshima University in 1987. Carbazomycin D was identified in a scaled and optimised fermentation of the same strain that produced carbazomycins A and B in 1980. Carbazomycin D possesses very weak antibacterial and antifungal activity but its biological has not been extensively studied.
