Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3 (BST) is a ferroelectric material with a perovskite structure, formed by the solid solution of barium titanate (BaTiO3) and strontium titanate (SrTiO3). The material exhibits a high dielectric constant, tunable permittivity, and good pyroelectric and piezoelectric properties, making it suitable for use in capacitors, dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), and electro-optic devices. BST thin films can be deposited using techniques like sputtering, allowing for their integration into integrated circuits and microelectronic devices. The ability to tailor the composition and microstructure of BST enables the optimization of its ferroelectric, dielectric, and electromechanical properties for various electronic and optoelectronic applications.
