Tryptases compose a subfamily of proteinases with trypsin-like activity that are mostly stored in mastcell secretory granules and released into the extracellular environment upon mast cell activation.Several biological functions for tryptases have been proposed, including involvement in inflammatoryand allergic responses.1 Mature mast cells have a complex distribution throughout the body. Anti-tryptase is a useful marker for mast cells.
