Histone H2A is a protein encoded by the HIST1H2AI"AI gene which is approximately 14 kDa. Histone H2A is localised to the nucleus and is involved in chromatin organization, deubiquitination, metabolism of proteins and chromatin regulation. Histones are basic nuclear proteins that are responsible for the nucleosome structure of the chromosomal fibre in eukaryotes. Two molecules of each of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) form an octamer, around which approximately 146 bp of DNA is wrapped in repeating units. It is a core component of nucleosome. Histone H2A is expressed in the intestine and spleen. STJ96865 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of Histone H2A protein.
