HER2 is a protein encoded by the ERBB2 gene which is approximately 137, 9 kDa. HER2 isoform 1 is localised to the cell membrane and isoform 2 and 3 are localised to the cytoplasm and nucleus. It is involved in RET signalling, the GPCR pathway and signalling by ERBB2. It is a protein tyrosine kinase that is part of several cell surface receptor complexes that need a coreceptor for ligand binding. It is an essential component of a neuregulin-receptor complex and also regulates outgrowth and stabilization of peripheral microtubules. HER2 is expressed in the cells of the nervous system, liver, intestine, lymph nodes and lung. Mutations in the ERBB2 gene may result in Glioma. STJ96947 was developed from clone 11H9 and was affinity-purified from mouse ascites by affinity-chromatography using specific immunogen. The antibody detects endogenous ErbB-2/HER-2 proteins.
