BRCA1 is a protein encoded by the BRCA1 gene which is approximately 207, 7 kDa. BRCA1 is localised to the cytoplasm and nucleus. It is involved in DNA double-strand break repair and meiosis. It is a E3 ubiquitin-protein ligasespecifically mediates the formation of Lys-6-linked polyubiquitin chains and plays a central role in DNA repair by facilitating cellular responses to DNA damage. The BRCA1-BARD1 heterodimer coordinates a range of cellular pathways such as ubiquitination and transcriptional regulation to maintain genomic stability. BRCA1 isoform 1 and 3 are widely expressed. Mutations in the BRCA1 gene may result in pancreatic cancer and breast cancer. STJ91884 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of BRCA1 protein.
