ANSA produced in E. Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 358 amino acids (1-338 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 39.3kDa. ANSA is fused to a 20 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. AnsA is a cytoplasmic asparaginase from E.coli involved in intracellular asparagine utilization. E.coli has 2 L-asparaginases: the cytoplasmic type I form (ansA) and the periplasmic type II form (ansB). AnsA (Type L asparaginase) is constitutively expressed and is obligatory for the growth of the bacteria on asparagine as the sole nitrogen source.
