Anaplasma phagocytophilum is a tick-transmitted obligate intracellular bacterium causing human granulocytic anaplasmosis (HGA). Its outer membrane protein A (OmpA) is a peptidoglycan-associated lipoprotein and plays an important role in the pathogenesis of the disease. OmpA belongs to the porin superfamily sharing a beta-barrel structure.
