Amino-dPEG®24-t-butyl ester, product number 10311, is a heterobifunctional, monodisperse polyethylene glycol (PEG) crosslinking reagent with a single molecular weight and discrete length PEG (dPEG®) chain. One end of the crosslinker terminates with a carbonyl-reactive primary amine. The opposite end terminates with an amine-reactive, tert-butyl-ester-protected propionic acid. The t-butyl ester protecting group is cleavable with trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). Once cleaved, the exposed acid reacts with amines to form amide bonds.
Heterobifunctional Crosslinkers
Heterobifunctional crosslinkers join different reactive functional groups together through a crossbridge. Crosslinkers that join amines and carboxylates are particularly popular. However, conventional crosslinkers are often hydrophobic and may trigger aggregation and precipitation of conjugates that use them.
In contrast, our single molecular weight dPEG® crosslinkers are highly water-soluble amphiphiles. Consequently, dPEG® crosslinkers impart water solubility to conjugates that incorporate them. As a result, these crosslinkers are increasingly popular in bioconjugation applications. Moreover, our dPEG® products provide all of the benefits of traditional PEG products without the analytical headaches that inevitably arise from using disperse polymer products. Please contact us at for specific academic pricing.
