Ald-Ph-PEG2-acid is a PEG derivative with a benzaldehyde moiety and a terminal carboxylic acid group. The benzaldehyde group can be reacted with primary amines. The terminal carboxylic acid can undergo reactions with primary amines in the presence of activators such as EDC and DCC to form a stable amide bond. The hydrophilic PEG linkers increase the water solubility of the compound in aqueous media.
