abberior MOUNT embedding media are aqueous embedding media with a refractive index in the range of 1.38. They are very convenient in terms of application. However, due to evaporation of contained water and polymerisation of the embedding medium, the refractive index will change over time.
abberior MOUNT LIQUID ANTIFADE is an aqueous mounting medium designed for 3D confocal and superresolution microscopy. The refractive index is identical to that of many biological samples (n = 1.38). abberior MOUNT LIQUID ANTIFADE is NOT hardening after embedding of specimen, to exclude changes of the 3D structure of samples during the hardening process. abberior Mount Liquid Antifade prevents photobleaching and preserves the signal of fluorescent labels.
Mounting Procedure: For mounting of specimen adhering to the cover slip e.g. cells labelled on the cover slip or fluorescent beads 10 - 50 µl of abberior MOUNT LIQUID ANTIFADE embedding medium (depending on the size of the cover slip) is being dropped onto the slide. Within the next minute(s) the coverslip has to be placed carefully on the drop of embedding medium. Excess medium has to be wiped away using clean tissue. After specimen mounting, the embedding medium is NOT hardening. To preserve the sample and hinder evaporation of water from the embedding medium, sealing of the cover slip with nail polish is required. Please contact us at for specific academic pricing.
