Molecular Biology hybridisation transfer buffer saline-sodium citrate (SSC) buffer is used to control stringency for washing steps in protocols for Southern Blotting, Northern Blotting, in situ hybridisation DNA microarrays. 20X SSC may be used to prevent drying of Agarose and PAGE gels during a vacuum transfer.
