SCAND1 produced in E. Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 199 amino acids (1-179 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 21.2kDa (molecular weight on SDS-PAGE will appear higher). SCAND1 is fused to a 20 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. SCAND1 is a part of a family of genes which encode an isolated SCAN domain. SCAN domain containing 1 has one SCAN box domain and has no zinc finger motif, which distinct this protein from almost all other SCAN domain containing proteins. SCAND1 is a nuclear protein that takes a part in the mechanism of transcription regulation. SCAND1 is extensively expressed in high levels in the kidney, thyroid, liver, prostate and testis.
