FAM172A is encoded by FAM172A gene and belongs to the UPF0528 family. This protein has 4 isoforms produced by alternative splicing. FAM172A has a 18 aa. signal peptide which helps it to be secreted. FAM172A plays a role in the regulation of alternative splicing by interacting with AGO2 and CHD7. It might be required for stabilizing protein-protein interactions at the chromatin-spliceosome interface.
