CRYBB1 Recombinant Human produced in E. Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 260 amino acids (1-252 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 29.1 kDa. The CRYBB1 is fused to an 8 amino acid His-Tag at C-terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Crystallins are the main structural proteins of the vertebrate eye lens, where they maintain the transparency and refractive index of the lens. Crystallins are divided into 3 fprotein families, alpha, Beta, & Gamma families. Because lens central fiber cells lose their nuclei during development, these crystallins are prepared and then retained throughout life, making them extremely stable proteins. CRYBB1 is a beta basic group member and undergoes extensive cleavage at its N-terminal extension during lens maturation.
