      • Overview
        • Polybrene (polyethylenimine) is a class of high-valent ionic quaternary ammonium polymer that, when dissolved, carries a positive charge. It binds to the negatively charged surface of cells and significantly enhances the efficiency of retroviral infection in cells. Typically, Polybrene can increase infection efficiency by 2 to 10 times.

      • Applications
        • Application Description
It is widely used in lentiviral or plasmid-mediated transfection of mammalian cells. However, Polybrene can exhibit cytotoxicity to certain cell types, so it is important to test its effects on cells before use.
In addition, Polybrene is used in protein sequencing, where low doses can significantly improve peptide degradation during automatic sequencing analysis. The addition of Polybrene to PVDF membranes can enhance the membrane's affinity, improving the results of protein transfer and detection.
