Phenol Crystal BP

Phenol crystal is used to make water saturated phenol, used in the extration of Nucleic Acid material from cells. Supplied as a highlly pure crystalline material. It is a weak acid and is normally a white crystal which turns pink then red on exposure to air.

It is also supplied re-distilled as water saturated phenol for use in molecular biology DNA/RNA extraction.

Re-distilled phenol is a sublimating liquid which forms a waxy solid which readily dissolves in water.
