Palmitoyl coenzyme A (Palmitoyl-CoA) is a long-chain fatty acyl-CoA formed by the condensation of hexadecanoic acid’s carboxyl group with the thiol group of coenzyme A. Palmitoyl-CoA functions as a metabolite in both Escherichia coli and mice and belongs to several fatty acyl-CoA subclasses, including saturated and 11,12-saturated types (Smith et al., 2003; Fahy et al., 2009).
