Palmitic acid (U-13C), or Hexadecanoic acid, is a 13C labeled saturated long-chain fatty acid. It is the most common saturated fatty acid found in plants, animals and microorganisms, and is a metabolite of carbohydrates-- the first step of fatty acid synthesis. Due to its key role in metabolism, it is a common analyte in metabolic research.
