MCDB 131 Without L-Glutamine is a Classic Basic Medium. MCDB 131 is a low-protein and serum-free culture medium designed for specific cell types. Originally developed by Kendler and Ham for human microvascular endothelial cells, it can also be used for liver cells, smooth muscle cells, and cardiomyocytes. Unlike traditional mediums, MCDB 131 contains trace elements, putrescine, adenine, thymine, and higher concentrations of amino acids and vitamins. It is commonly used with EGF, hydrocortisone, glutamine, and low-concentration serum, and the optimal serum concentration must be determined based on the cell type being cultured.
