Recombinant CYP450 enzymes are obtained by genetic engineering of CYP450 genes and expressed in E. coli or insect cells. Individual CYP450 isoenzyme is expressed and purified, and used to study drug metabolism, drug metabolism polymorphism and drug metabolism interaction. Species differences of drug metabolism can be elucidated by comparing metabolites profile of drug candidates by liver CYP450 enzymes.
