HardyCHROM™ Candida + auris is recommended for the selective isolation and differential identification of Candida species. The medium allows for the differentiation of C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. krusei, and C. auris based on colony morphology, color, and positive UV fluorescence.
Colonies of Candida glabrata can be subbed directly to Rapid Trehalose Fermentation Broth (Cat. no. Z205) or GlabrataQuick (Cat. no. Z298) for confirmation
Features and Benefits:
Easy colony detection
Candida auris produces white colonies with teal to teal-green “bullseye” centers that are positive for UV fluorescence for easy differentiation from other Candida species
Colonies stand out
Bright, vivid color development against a white background for effortless interpretation
Highly selective
Useful as an aid for differentiating other clinically relevant Candida species (C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. krusei). Inhibitory to most bacteria common to mixed specimens (e.g. skin, throat, axilla, urogenital tract, or rectal swabs, etc.)
Fast developmentMost strains will exhibit colors within 48 hours
See the Instructions for Use (IFU) below (under Technical Information) for the complete procedure with color photos.
The HardyCHROM™ plates use optically clear, heavy-duty polystyrene for distortion-free viewing and reduced breakage during shipping. Receive your pack in a "breathable" sleeve of 10 plates per bag that prevents the buildup of condensation and excess moisture.
This media is to be stored and incubated in the dark. If you have a light in your refrigerator, incubator, or you leave the media exposed to light on the benchtop, we offer free Blok-Boxes. Blok-Box is a reusable cardboard box that holds one sleeve of ten Petri plates. Please contact us at for specific academic pricing.
