Hams F-12K is a Classic Basic Medium. Ham's F-12K medium was modified from Ham's F-12 to increase the concentration of amino acids and pyruvic acid, while reducing the concentration of glucose. Additionally, the composition and content of the salt in the medium was modified. This medium has been used successfully to culture primary human hepatocytes and differentiated cells of rats and chickens. The medium does not contain proteins, lipids or any growth factors, and therefore needs to be used with serum or serum-free additives.
