Exatecan Mesylate, scientifically recognised as DX-8951f, is a hexacyclic chemical compound analogous to camptothecin, with essential antitumoral properties. Exatecan mesylate is used as an inhibitor of DNA topoisomerase I, that plays a key role in DNA replication, transcription, and recombination. Therefore, the use of exatecan mesylate is of great importance in prompting cell division and triggering cell death (Giles, 2000).
