CUL1 produced in E. Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 430 amino acids (1- 410a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 49.4kDa. CUL1 is fused to a 20 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Cullin1, is an essential component of multiple cullin-RING-based SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complexes, that facilitate the ubiquitination of proteins which take part in cell cycle progression, signal transduction and transcription. In the SCF complex. Cullin1 assists in a rigid scaffold which organizes the SKP1-F-box protein and RBX1 subunits. Cullin1 contributes to catalysis by positioning of the substrate and the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme.
