Bromoacetamido-PEG3-DOTA is a PEG derivative containing a bromine moiety and a t-butyl protecting group. The hydrophilic PEG spacer increases the water solubility of a compound in aqueous media. The bromide (Br) is a very good leaving group for nucleophilic substitution reactions. The DOTA group can be ionized and is susceptible for chelating di- and trivalent cations.
