ErbB-3 is a protein encoded by the ERBB3 gene which is approximately 148 kDa. ErbB-3 isoform 1 is localised to the cell membrane and isoform 2 is secreted. It is involved in RET signalling, GPCR pathway, GAB1 signalosome, signalling by ERBB2 and ERK signalling. The protein fall under the epidermal growth factor receptor family of receptor tyrosine kinases. It plays an essential role as a cell surface receptor for neuregulins. It binds to neuregulin-1 and is also activated by it. ErbB-3 is expressed in the brain and epithelial tissues. Mutations in the ERBB3 gene result in lethal congenital contracture syndrome. STJ90642 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This primary antibody specifically binds to endogenous ErbB-3 protein which only binds about Y1197 when Y1197 is phosphorylated.
