      • Overview
        • Catenin-beta is a protein encoded by the CTNNB1 gene which is approximately 85, 4 kDa. Catenin-beta is localised to the cytoplasm and nucleus. It is involved in CDK-mediated phosphorylation and removal of Cdc6, blood-brain barrier and immune cell transmigration, endometrial cancer and cell junction organization. It is part of a complex of proteins that constitute adherent junctions. Adherent junctions are necessary for the creation and maintenance of epithelial cell layers by regulating cell growth and adhesion between cells. It also anchors the actin cytoskeleton and may be responsible for transmitting the contact inhibition signal that causes cells to stop dividing once the epithelial sheet is complete. Catenin-beta is expressed in several hair follicle cell types and the colon. Mutations in the CTNNB1 gene may result in colorectal cancer and pilomatrixoma. STJ90207 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This primary antibody specifically binds to endogenous Catenin-beta protein which only binds about S37 when S37 is phosphorylated.
