Peroxin 2 is a protein encoded by the PEX2 gene which is approximately 34, 8 kDa. Peroxin 2 is localised to the peroxisome membrane and is involved in peroxisome pathways. It is an integral peroxisomal membrane protein required for peroxisome biogenesis which is thought to be involved in peroxisomal matrix protein import. Peroxin 2 is expressed in the kidney, liver and nervous system. Mutations in the PEX2 gene may result in peroxisome biogenesis disorder. STJ95040 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of peroxin 2 protein.
