Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) also known as platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase (PAF-AH) is an enzyme involved in atherosclerosis related vascular inflammation. Increased Lp-PLA2 mass and activity are prognostic biomarkers for cardiovascular disease (CVD) including coronary heart disease and ishcemic stroke.
