Frizzled-2 is a protein encoded by the FZD2 gene which is approximately 63, 5 kDa. Frizzled-2 is localised to the cell membrane and is involved in CDK-mediated phosphorylation and removal of Cdc6, Wnt signalling pathway and pluripotency and mTOR signalling pathway. It is a receptor for Wnt proteins and is coupled to the beta-catenin canonical signalling pathway, which leads to the activation of disheveled proteins, inhibition of GSK-3 kinase, nuclear accumulation of beta-catenin and activation of Wnt target genes. Frizzled-2 is widely expressed, it is mainly found in heart, placenta, skeletal muscle, lung, kidney, pancreas, prostate, testis, ovary and colon. Mutations in the FZD2 gene result in omodysplasia. STJ93141 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of Frizzled-2 protein.
