E-cadherin is a protein encoded by the CDH1 gene which is approximately 97, 4 kDa. E-cadherin is localised to the cell membrane and Golgi apparatus. It is involved in cell junction organization, ERK signalling and apoptotic cleavage of cellular proteins. It is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion protein that is involved in mechanisms regulating cell-cell adhesions, mobility and proliferation of epithelial cells and has a potent invasive suppressor role. It is also a ligand for integrin alpha-E/ beta-7. E-cadherin is expressed in non-neural epithelial tissues. Mutations in the CDH1 gene may result in endometrial cancer and breast cancer. STJ92819 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of E-cadherin protein.
