1,2,7,8-Diepoxyoctane is diepoxy alkane used as synthetic intermediates in polymer synthesis. The function of 1,2,7,8-Diepoxyoctane is to cross link polymer chains in an effort to strengthen the polymer. 1,2,7,8-Diepoxyoctane and similar compounds are also employed as mutagens in genotoxity studies due to their carcinoigenic nature.
