MW : 11.7kD. Recombinant Human S100 Calcium Binding Protein A8 is produced by our E.coli expression system and the target gene encoding Met1-Glu93 is expressed with a 6His tag at the C-terminus. Protein S100-A8 (also MRP8 and calgranulin A) is a calcium- and zinc-binding protein. It plays a prominent role in the regulation of inflammatory processes and immune response. S100A8 can induce neutrophil chemotaxis and adhesion. Its role as an oxidant scavenger has a protective role in preventing exaggerated tissue damage by scavenging oxidants. It can act as a potent amplifier of inflammation in autoimmunity as well as in cancer development and tumor spread.
