Interleukin-21 (IL-21) is a cytokine that belongs to the IL-15 / IL-21 family. IL-21 is produced by CD4+ T cells in response to antigenic stimulation, facilitating the transition between innate and adaptive immunity. It induces the production of IgG1 and IgG3 in B-cells. IL-21 is also involved in the proliferation and maturation of natural killer cells in synergy with IL15. Dysregulation of IL-21 may be associated with multiple immune-mediated diseases.
