        • Detergents are water-soluble surfactants that are amphiphilic organic compounds, containing both hydrophilic heads and hydrophobic tails. Their amphiphilic nature results in their aggregation in solution to form micelles, spherical or ellipsoid structures in which the hydrophilic head regions are in contact with the aqueous solvent, and the hydrophobic tails are sequestered in the centre.
          Our carbohydrate-based detergents are classed as non-ionic and often refered to as mild or non-denaturing solubilising agents. The carbohydrate-based detergents are widely used in lysis buffers for purification of enzymes, structural and membrane proteins, which are used for functional or crystallisation studies.
